Project Notice: Magalia Restoration Project
Funded by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and in partnership with the Paradise Recreation and Park District, the Magalia Restoration Project will reduce hazardous fuels, restore local watersheds, and strengthen community understanding of Good Fire across Coutolenc Park in Magalia and Oak Creek Park in Paradise.

June 3, 2026 — Funded by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, this project partners with the Paradise Recreation and Park District (PRPD) to reduce hazardous fuels, restore local watersheds, and strengthen the community's understanding of Good Fire.
The project will take place across two sites: Coutolenc Park located in Magalia, CA and Oak Creek Park located in Paradise, CA. At Coutolenc Park, treatments include a mosaic of mastication high blading, hand cutting, pile burning, and broadcast burning. At Oak Creek Park, treatments include a combination of grazing, mastication high blading, hand cutting, pile burning, and broadcast burning. The overall objective of this project is to protect and encourage the growth of young Ponderosa pine and Black oak saplings and create a safe environment for public access after the 2018 Camp Fire significantly burned through this region. The approach helps create healthy forest conditions and improved recreational experiences. Fuels reduction treatments are scheduled to begin June 2026 with the anticipation of burning in fall 2026.
The Butte County Fire Safe Council is a grassroots non-profit organization that implements a variety of fuels reduction and forest health projects in operation around Butte County including Forbestown, Berry Creek, Forest Ranch, Cohasset, Paradise, Big Chico Creek Canyon, and Oroville Foothills.
