BCFSC announces the SNC 1547 Magalia Forest & Wildfire Resilience Project, a multi-phase fuel reduction effort to protect the community of Magalia from high-severity wildfire.

Project Description
This project is in the foothills within the community of Magalia, CA. Several fuel reduction projects will occur over the next year as part of Phase 1 to ensure a more resilient forest and protect the community from high severity wildfires.
Project Objectives
- Thin overstocked stands, canopy cover remaining at 70%.
- Strengthen fuel breaks around the community for greater fire safety.
- Improve health of the forest and watersheds, enhancing the ecology of the local wildlife.
- Reduce risk of catastrophic wildfire.
Phase 1 Treatment Details
- Total Planned Project Acres (Phase 1): 155.8
- Hand Cut & Chip: 43.5 acres
- Hand Cut & Pile: 5.1 acres
- Hand Cut & Pile Burn: 7.7 acres
- Mastication: 99.5 acres
- Total Grant Acres: 396 acres
